Neill is from Bayside on Dublin's northside. He began to play music at the age of 12 under the guidance of Fidelma and Mick O'Brien. Neill initially started off on the tin whistle but soon took a greater interest in the bodhrán.
In 1994, at the age of 16, Neill won the first place in the under 18s bodhrán competition at the All-Ireland Fleadh, Clonmel, Co Tipperary. In 2006 Neill was the inaugural winner of The World Bodhrán Championships (senior), held in Milltown, County Kerry. This important win gained Neill respect as a bodhrán player not only in Ireland but internationally.
Throughout thre years Neill was given some sound advice in traditional music from the likes of Damien Quinn (Donal Lunny band 1988),Eamonn De Barra, Paul McNevin,Peter Browne,the list goes on…

Why EIRE IN KELTIA chosen Neill Lyons as the workshop?

Nathalie, bought the CD Skins and Sins,which was produced by Neill and Eamonn De Barra., which was released at the end of 2008.here she discovered a new but nevertheless very traditional sound in the bodhran.
In March, 2009, Neill went to Brittany ,to Le Bono festival where he taught the bodhran to many fine French bodhran players,which was organized by Eddy Guilloteau.
Nicolas Dupin, a friend who also plays the bodhran, talked a lot about Neill's way of teaching and it is what motivated Nathalie for this workshop.
In addition, Neill and his band played a concert on the island of Inis Oirr during the bodhran festival «  Craiceann « in june of 2009.
Some people wished to obtain some lessons from Neill, but Neill had to leave the day after the concert. Nathalie then suggested to organize a workshop in October and association the event with the exchange, planned for several months between Cobblestone pub in Dublin and the Dubliners pub of Toulouse. Nathalie has thanked a Neill for having agreed to take some hours of his time to make us discover his way to approach the bodhran!
For EIRE IN KELTIA, it is the first time that the association organizes an event in Ireland!
For the COBBLESTONE, it is the first time that a workshop of bodhran takes place!

Neill est de Bayside dans le quartier nord de Dublin. Il a commencé à jouer de la musique à l'âge de 12 ans sous la direction de Fidelma et Mick O'Brien. Neill initialement démarré sur le tin whistle, mais prit bientôt un plus grand intérêt dans le bodhran.

Pourquoi Éire en KELTIA Neill choisi Lyon comme l'atelier?

Nathalie, a acheté le CD et Skins péchés, qui a été réalisé par Neill et Eamonn De Barra., Qui a été libéré à la fin de 2008.here elle a découvert un nouveau son, mais néanmoins très traditionnelle dans le bodhran.
En Mars 2009, Neill allé à la Bretagne, à Le Bono Festival où il a enseigné le bodhran à de nombreux joueurs de bodhran fine française, qui a été organisé par Eddy Guilloteau.
Nicolas Dupin, un ami qui joue aussi du bodhran, a beaucoup parlé de façon Neill de l'enseignement et c'est ce qui a motivé Nathalie pour cet atelier.
En outre, Neill et son groupe ont offert un concert sur l'île d'Inis Oirr pendant le festival «bodhran Craiceann« en juin 2009.
Certaines personnes ont souhaité obtenir quelques leçons de Neill, Neill, mais a dû quitter le jour après le concert. Nathalie a alors suggéré d'organiser un atelier en Octobre et l'association des événements à l'échange, prévu pour plusieurs mois entre la pub Cobblestone à Dublin et le pub Dubliners de Toulouse. Nathalie a remercié un Neill d'avoir accepté de prendre quelques heures de son temps pour nous faire découvrir sa manière d'aborder le bodhran!
Pour Éire en KELTIA, c'est la première fois que l'association organise un événement en Irlande!
Pour les pavés, c'est la première fois qu'un atelier de bodhran a lieu!
